I have experience teaching individuals of all ages. I have been working with various tutoring companies since May. Furthermore, I have taught numerous children how to read and do basic math. I have tutored many of my classmates in various subjects including psychology, English, biology, and algebra since high school. I facilitate day treatment groups teaching severely emotionally disturbed children social skills, behavior management, and life skills. These children also have a range of diagnoses such as autism or ADHD. I helped provide group and individual reading instruction for adults with developmental disabilities for a year. My comments on tutoring Psychology : Although I have never taken a course in Psychology nor have I tutored the subject, I truly believe I am an expert in Psychology because I am a little bit crazy. :)Just Kidding, Really...

I consider myself to be a uniquely seasoned, qualified, and experienced tutor who can adapt to any situation and to any student in order to benefit their education and learning experience. Due to my ability to teach and tutor children and adults of all ages, (in addition to my own near-perfect scores on the SAT & ACT) I was one of the first Instructors hired by PrepExpert, a national company that specializes in preparing students for the SAT, ACT, AP, other exams, and simply for help in regular classes at all levels. This company is so successful and growing so fast because of the unparalleled improvements among students that it recently appeared on ABC's show "Shark Tank," during which Mark Cuban was impressed enough to buy a substantial stake in the company and is a current partner. My comments on tutoring Psychology : B.S. in Science (Life Science Option) from Penn State University; Psych courses included: Introductory Psychology, Positive Psychology, Health Psychology (400 lvl), Abnormal Psychology (400 lvl), and Forensic Psychology (400 lvl).

I enjoy incorporating visual representations of the subject matter as well as using real world examples to solidify the information. As a college graduate and aspiring physician I am also fond of mnemonics as tools helpful tools to store information.
I graduated from Penn State University in the Fall of 2010, earning my B.S. in Science (Life Science Option). My degree very closely related to the typical Biology degree; however, mine afforded me the ability to specifically tailor my upper level courses to focus more heavily on Anatomy, Physiology, Psychology, and medically related Biology courses. While in college I worked as a tutor for Penn State and I also earned my paramedic certification and have nearly three years experience working in the field as a paramedic, allowing me to bring real world (medical) applications to many of the basic sciences. Throughout the past eight years, I have focused my efforts on soaking up my education and research experiences across many subdivisions in the field of Psychology. My education ranges from expertise in Social Psychology to Cognitive Neuroscience, however is not limited to these domains. While working toward my graduate degree I was involved in analyzing vast amounts of data, writing scientific manuscripts, and general laboratory management. My teaching style is somewhat relaxed so that I can encourage my students to open up. When I first begin tutoring someone I let them do things their way rather than tell them how to do something. Then, I tell them that if their method isn't working, we will try it my way. In addition to teaching them the material, I try to pass off good studying habits as well. For example, rather than help a student write a paper by simply editing their paper, I try to show the student how helpful brainstorming is, and/or how to create an efficient, simple outline. I also try to find at least one thing a student is good at and encourage him in that area. Once a student realizes he is good at something, he feels more confident in other areas as well.

As a recent college graduate, I uphold and advocate the educational experience as an essential part of life. It not only expands our mental capabilities, but also builds confidence into individuals. Both bachelor degrees that I have earned have done just that. My BA in Journalism and Media Studies has enhanced my writing and grammatical skills, while my BA in Political Science has deepened my analytical and logic skills. I have put these abilities into practice while tutoring for the last two years in English, reading comprehension, and social studies classes.
My teaching style can be described in two words: persistent and patient. I believe that the reason why a student may seem disinterested in education is due to fear of not understanding the subject, embarrassment of failure, and/or lack of self-motivation or focus. But all of these can be overcome with a persistent tutor who d ... read more

I believe that all children have the ability to succeed. The key is to allow a child to feel empowered to have mastery over the material. Often time teachers explain new material in only one way. As a tutor I strive to find your child's learning style to help them understand the material, and learn good study habits early. I am patient and kind but believe that your child can be challenged to succeed. I also believe that it is important for student and teacher to trust and respect each other. Parents, teachers, tutors, and student are all key to the success of your child!
