I'm a warm, dedicated person that enjoys to learn and teach.

I provide as much one on one attention as possible. I provide examples, write out explanations using the board, and try to help the child progress without giving them the answer.
I worked for Project Transformation through SMU. I tutored high risk and underprivileged children in Oakcliff with after school homework help. Their ages ranged from 5-12 years old. I along with my fellow tutors also provided extra intellectually stimulating activities when they finished their homework such as future planning and education regarding different cultures.

My comments on tutoring Science : -

I would describe my teaching style as dynamic, creative student-centered
I've either taught or tutored in some form or fashion for over 17yrs now. I've had ages 3yrs to 22yrs old covering all manner of subjects and hobbies. One of my most rewarding experience was with an 18 year old special needs 10th grader ready to drop out of school. We met 2-3x a week for 6mths. In that time he raised his GPA from 1.2 to 2.7. He completed his 10th grade year and went on to take and pass the G.E.D. the following year.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am 17 years old and I love working with and teaching kids. I have experience with teaching a bible group for second graders at my church, and I know how to get your child excited about the many things they can accomplish by learning. I am a senior in high school and have a GPA of 3.7. I have taken AP classes and 4 years of Spanish. My best academic subjects are math, science, and reading. I am skilled in music and am taking a college level music theory class, so if you're looking to learn or have your child learn either piano, guitar, or voice I can help in that as well.
When teaching I like to base the curriculum off of interests of the child so they can understand on a personal level, and also be excited to learn and relate what they learn to the things that they enjoy. I do not personally own any curriculum or books.

I have always had a passion for learning, and helping others learn. In middle school, High School and College, other students came to me for help with assignments. Knowing what it is like to be a student, I try to see from the students point of view. Each student teaches me their own way to learn. I enjoy learning and hope that I can share that joy with others.
My degree in Engineering has given me plenty of experience in math and science. I have also had graduate courses in Physics and Engineering. As a graduate student at UNT, I instructed several physics and astronomy labs and learned first hand what teaching can be like. I have since felt that teaching math and science is a career I want to pursue.

I am convinced that for students to succeed in their education and in life they must have a firm foundation in reading and writing. Without mastering these basics it is nearly impossible for them to move on to a higher learning level. It is my desire to not just improve test scores, but to inculcate a passion for literature, reading and history. I believe that learning should be fun and that a teacher's enthusiasm and energy and excitement with the curriculum are critical to motivating students to learn. Additionally, as a teacher, I am committed to remaining current with any new, progressive learning strategies, teaching methods and resources, and the latest technologies, that would advance the learning experience.

I enjoy working with all students and have tutored students for the past 4 years in the AVID program. Additionally, I tutored and served as a writing to coach to high-school and college students during my off time. My focus is helping students understand how to aptly address course assignments, how to structure and assemble essays, term papers and research papers and how to decipher themes and motifs in classic readings for assigned papers. My method is to guide students to becoming skilled writers through the editing process and use of an explanatory narrative. I believe the best learning is taught in a manner that encourages and supports students to find their own way as life-long learners.
For almost twenty years, I’ve worked with students as a K-12 as a tutor, coordinator, counselor, and advocate in a variety of educational environments. I am committed to the belief that achiev ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Despite a demanding, accelerated academic schedule, during my three years at a competitive private college I voluntarily tutored underprivileged elementary students. In earning my BA in Sociology/Anthropology I became well versed on understanding people from a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds. I also have a strong background in the social sciences including social studies, history and language arts. My college major also required that I write numerous papers and helped me to develop a strong writing style, as well as a keen understanding of grammar. After moving overseas in 2004, I began substitute teaching at an elementary/middle school for two years. The experience I gained there was extensive and I am now comfortable working with children from pre-K through 8th grade, on a variety of levels and topics.
My whole life I have had a love of education. I look fo ... read more

I have learned most people achieve best in a fun and interactive environment. Learning games, role modeling, flash cards, art, and music are a few tools that are used. Another important component is trust and teamwork. Once students know you have their best interest at heart, trust is built. In a one-to-one situation, a teacher must emphasize teamwork.
