Ever since high school I have very much enjoyed math, and with each new class, my appreciation for the subject grows. Before I became a teacher in Philadelphia, I tutored in a private tutoring agency in Florida (where I was working on my undergraduate degree). That was my first experience with tutoring and I loved it. I liked being able to give individual attention to a student after he or she had spent all day in the classroom. I especially liked seeing a student's confidence increase after we worked together. For the last ten years, I was a classroom teacher for high school math in Philadelphia. During my studies I was able to tutor for a program called Upward Bound. I tutored students in many subjects in order to get them ready for college. In order to complete my degree at SUNY Potsdam I had the experience of student teaching.
