During my 30 years as a consultant I taught several classes related to game theory and applied Calculus. I am current a member of Toastmasters international and enjoy public speaking as well as instructing and mentoring other club members. For my BA I decided in my Senior Year that I wanted to get a Masters Degree in Education so I switched my major last minute from Elementary Education with Emphasis in sciences and General Education to a understanding of how people learn. I have tutored friends and family in understanding a variety of subjects. Student success is a top priority of my mission and I will be receiving my Masters of Education in May.

I think it is important for students to develop self- esteem and see themselves succeeding, and that is what I work on first including staying on task. I have always used Madeline Hunters guidelines for successful lesson plans, which includes using manipulatives to assist students in understanding concepts. I have always enjoyed tutoring students and seeing them "get" the subjects we are touching on. The look on their face during this moment is priceless. I fully understand that everyone learns things in different ways. While one student may be able to memorize and understand facts one way, say by repetition, another student may learn the information by understanding the background and context that it comes from. I am very patient and flexible with students and realize that if they do not understand the material that it is not their fault, but rather I need to try a different approach with them. A good education is not only valuable in life, but I feel that students gain self confidence when they see their grades improve and they actually understand their class work.
