Love watching children learn and grow!

I use a variety of teaching styles and methods to reach students because I know that all students are different and learn better with different methods. I try to find creative ways to reach students to try to make learning as engaging and meaningful as possible.
I graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Elementary Education (K-6) as well as Reading Certification (K-12). I did an internship in 1st grade as well as taught some in 2nd and 3rd grade. I know that each child is different and that I must differentiate my teaching methods in order to reach all children. I love learning new and creative ways to teach content to children and trying to make learning as engaging and meaningful as possible for all.

I am attending school for early childhood degree. Working with children and others have always been apart of me. Throughout school I am always helping and tutoring someone. Teaching someone something that I already know and something they should know or what to know makes me happy. I substitute before and volunteer my time a lot with daycare, Boys and Girls Club, after school programs, and even at church. I love to grab up my neighbor children to see how they are doing in school and if they need help with some work that they may have not gotten an understanding from their teacher or their parents do not understand.

As an graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I have done exceptionally well. I learned so much through tutoring other students. When I tutored in the Business Department for Accounting and Finance classes, I gave some students hope, and some students even looked up to me. That they made me feel great and it really made me enjoy what I did because I helped a lot of the students turn the weaknesses into strengths.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working as a Substitute teacher for the last six years in Georgia as well as in the State of Washington. As my resume will indicate, I have experience at tutoring in the four major core subjects (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies). I recently moved back home to the Wilson area after more than 30 years. I attended Elvie Street Elementary, 1963-67, Coon Junior High 1968, Darden High School 1970-71, Fike High School 1972-73 and graduated from Elm City High School in 1973.
