I began tutoring privately,as well as,for my school's learning center during the early 1990's. I have continued tutoring privately on and off for the past twenty years. I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I also taught "at-risk" elementary age children during the summer for the Glendora Unifed School District in Glendora, CA. I tutored privately for three years from 2005-2008 in south Los Angeles County and north Orange County, CA. I can provide recommendations from these clients if you are interested. My youngest students were in first grade with my oldest students attending college.

In 2006 I graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in Engineering Science. It gave me an understanding in a broad range of mathematical areas as well as areas of other sciences. During that time I worked with volunteer organizations like Salem Housing and Habitat for humanity for three years, which enabled me to mentor a variety of ages. In the last year I've worked with a homeschooling group on a project called, "Leaping Lizards."
I love people's capacity for learning. It gives me joy to know that I have helped another learn something new. I am patient, relaxed, and try to keep tutoring interesting for the recipient. I recently have spent the last six months in the Head Start Program as a center teacher. We prepare them for kindergarten. I have taught all grade levels. I currently have a BA with a concentration in K-8 education. Due to online classes, I have written hundreds of research and essay papers using APA style although I have helped my son use MLA which I can write in effectively.

I feel if that you really want to learn a subject, that you should try teaching it. I am very friendly and laid back. I try to instill humor and life experiences with my teachings to help the children relate to me or the materials. I love the look of child when the wheels are turning in thier head. I believe that all children have a chance for higher education.
Even though I graduated with a degree in Business Adminstration I hav always enjoys tutoring. I have been tutoring my younger neices and nephews just because I enjoy so.
