My comments on tutoring Logic : Have taught Logic at two community colleges and at ITT-Tech. Total teaching experience in the subject is 32 years

I am capable of both structured and informal teaching styles depending upon the situation. I find that when smaller increments of course instruction is followed up with the student demonstrating proficiency and comprehension the overall learning experience is maximized. Repetition is normally the best way to comprehend not only the material presented but it allows the student to assimilate the steps and formulas simulataneously.
I possess over 30 years of academic/industry training the areas of mathematics, networking, programming and engineering. Having taught for 2 universities, 2 community colleges and several private institutions I bring to the class both an academic/private industry point of view. Students are taught not only the specific details of the course but are also shown where the subject matter is used in industry along jobs which might employ this knowled ... read more

Learn from the basics

I have taught several students in India, and I am quite properly understand the knowledge and the background required to teach subjects. I was myself a college topper and a school gold medalist. Hence I can teach and inculcate the knowledge of teaching in students. Learning maths and science is something very elementary if understood from the basics and in-depth. Thus it is very important that a student should learn, read and write all in-depth. This learning curve is something that I have tried to develop in myself from years to come and hope to imbibe the knowledge of it in several other students. I had got 167/170 in my GRE thus the basics of my maths is quite strong. I have even taught several students in India about how to crack this exam and helped several for cracking this exam too. I hope to help many more of the students.

I am very interactive with the student and I want them to see me as a friend. I for one do not like to be told what to do and how to do it, that never helps me learn. It is better when you feel you are working towards a common goal with your superior. I want my student to feel free to talk to me about anything, and to enjoy learning the material he or she is struggling with. You simply do not learn as much when you dread coming into the classroom everyday. I like to make games out of the work. Whether that has to do with an intensive game to really build the learning level, or a game just to release some tension and build my students confidence.
As a college athlete I always have been encouraged to help out the community. Because of my high level of math, I knew that I could really help others learn the material in a fun way. Math is something that has always been easy to me, ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As an Honors Graduate in Mathematics and Physics, and as an Olympic Gold Medalist team member in Mathematics, Ukraine 1984, I have been educated at the highest levels in Mathematics and Physics. Such training has prepared me to teach the highest levels of Mathematics. My detailed understanding of all aspects of advanced mathematics gives me a special insight of the learning levels each student must possess and demonstrate. Understanding the learning deficiencies of students allows me to direct my tutoring efforts to specifically identify weakness and strengths of students. Once identified, I then explain and teach the mathematic laws, rules, concepts and theories to allow the student to see their mistakes, weakness and then grow in their strengths and understanding of the math subject. I am very successful in tutoring students. Results in students testing levels show 20-30 point improvem ... read more

My first experience as a tutor was in my college tutor lab. I tutored both college level Math and Chemistry. I found that students I tutored found it easier to understand complex concepts when their individual needs could be addressed one on one. If a student does not understand a concept the first way I explain it we try again a different way, but if they do understand we can move on and not waste their time. I have taught high school for two years. In my first year I taught both Chemistry and Biology. This past year I taught Geometry and Liberal Arts Mathematics. I hold a certificate in Exceptional Student Education that has proved very valuable in finding strategies to help students that learn differently.
I like to start with a relaxed but alert student in a safe learning environment. I assess the student’s knowledge of the subject then I build on what the student knows. If the ... read more
