I teach the way i was taught, from the sketchbooks of the masters, classical drawing to enable to student to render 3d on a 2d surface using modeling, blending, variation of line, atmospheric perspective, shading, highlighting. then i concentrate on use of space of picture window, or design of the piece. once these are mastered, i concentrate on the concepts the student wants to focus on and how to apply what they've learned to accomplish their objective.
