I enjoy making the ancient world come alive to students, whether they are in elementary school or adults. I have taught elementary education as a classroom teacher for over twelve years in both public and private settings. I held a valid OH teacher's certificate in 1992 but did not need it here in CO as I taught in private schools, so it has lapsed. I have always sought to lead rather than force something upon the student by rote. Most important is to present the information in a way that is both interesting and memorable. It is my experience that people remember things better when they truly understand the process, and have reason to listen to the explanation. My experience in tutoring began in high school when I volunteered for my local library, in a program aimed towards improving students’ reading ability. Having had considerable difficulty learning to read myself, I felt it was important that I attempt to pass this on to others.
