I love working with all ages and generally prefer English as a Second Language students, but I enjoy working with everyone. My teaching style is very student centered as I try to figure out what a learner likes to learn and cater the instruction to them so it stays fun and educational. My first experience tutoring was in 8th grade when my 6th grade math teacher asked me to help some of his struggling students. I greatly enjoyed the experience and wanted to continue. I didn't get another chance to tutor until my freshman year of college. I volunteered to help a young man who could not take notes for himself. As the semester progressed, he asked for my help in understanding the material, so I began informally tutoring him in Biology. I also had the opportunity to tutor a young student in Short Calculus. Most currently I have been teaching a lab section at the University of Minnesota. The class is about 18 students and meets once a week for 3 hours.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love helping people succeed. I have an ability to show someone a new way of looking at things, which is sometimes the only thing keeping a person from understanding. I also have a great ability at reading someone and noticing when they don't understand. Sometimes people are too embarrassed to speak up and ask for help, even when I'm there for that exact reason.
