After receiving my BA and MA in English, I continued my education to get certification in postsecondary education as well as to receive licensure to substitute teach in Minnesota. I have been a substitute teacher for two years, and I have been with students ages 4 through 18. In addition, I was a teaching assistant for an interpersonal communication class at a college in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. When I first started college, I had no idea what to major in. I started taking creative writing and literature classes though, and found my niche in English. I enjoy writing, reading, proofreading, checking grammar and punctuation, and find myself reviewing billboards and magazines for errors. I've been able to put these skills to actual use as an instructor, tutor, and advisor for college students. I have taught Business Writing, Business Communication, and Keyboarding classes. I have also had a great deal of experience with public speaking and have played piano for more than 20 years.
