A Little Bit About Me...

While earning my BA in history, I was able to lean many aspects of history. My studies ranged from the Mild Ages to the 1960s and current. I was also able to intern with the Sherburne County History Center where I learned on the job techniques and how to interact with children. Though teaching was not my primary role at the History Center, I was exposed to many opportunities not only to teach but to help others track down their lineage.
Teaching comes easily to me especially with high school and college age students. I highly enjoy accelerated history, critical thinking and exploring the odd details of history. I tend to be a stern teacher with high expectations for students. This being said, I try my hardest to help students comprehend and understand the material being learned. Teaching comes naturally to me. Because of my extensive work with individuals with various disabilities, I have developed the patients and persistence that allows me to accommodate instruction to meet learners' needs. I believe that every individual can learn and grow, however, I understand that growth varies from person to person. There is no one size fits all education, which means that each individual learns differently. As an educator it is my job to find what works for any learner. By using methods that will help the individual, they will become successful and gain confidence in their abilities.
I've recently finished the licensing program through the University of Minnesota.
