My comments on tutoring World History : Byzantine and European Medieval History, Renaissance, WW1, WW2

I have taught 6th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. I expect hard work and dedication. I use classroom-tested teaching strategies that include but are not limited to role-play, reader-response, kinesthetic and tactile movement, drawing, and holistic engagement in the "story-world" to help students understand and connect to the literature. I am patient.

As an engineering graduate from Georgia Tech, I have a high level of skill in mathematics, from algebra to calculus and differential equations, and in sciences, especially physics. Also, I began my college career at the University of Alabama, where I was in the honors program. There I had to write numerous papers in the subjects of literature and history, while at Georgia Tech I became proficient in writing technical reports. Also, I have performed duties as a lifeguard and Special Olympics assistant coach, while working for Tuscaloosa County Parks and Recreation. With the experience I have gained in my education and work, I feel confident that I could successfully tutor students. Also, I have had numerous experiences helping classmates with various problems in their coursework.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a well educated professional who has completed both his bachelor's and juris doctorate degrees, I have developed the skills to help students excel in a variety of subjects. To this effect, I have tutored students from a variety of educational levels, including high school and at the undergraduate level. My best developed tutoring skill, however, is my proficiency for writing that I have developed from completing numerous papers and projects that were necessary to complete my bachelor’s degree and to meet the meticulous drafting standards of legal documents and decisions. Thus, I can proficiently construct arguments, draft papers to meet grammatical standards, and recommend research strategies to properly construct a paper.
My philosophy is primarily founded on the simple knowledge that learning is imperative; thus, I recognize the importance of ensuring that each student i ... read more

As a college senior, I've come to value greatly my education. Prior to enrolling at the University of Georgia, I made a perfect 800 on the math section of my SATs. Even though I am a science major, I have a great understanding of math. Currently, I tutor middle schoolers in basic algebra, most of whom are struggling and need a lot of help. I have also recently finished an entire college online algebra course online for someone with a 96 average.
My strongest suit in my teaching style is probably the many ways that I would approach teaching a certain principle. If the student does not understand one way to approach a problem, I try to best to help them understand and learn another way. I feel like since everyone learns differently, a tutor should approach a problem from as many angles as possible. My teaching style is also very patient. I suppose the saying "give a man a fis ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I recently completed a Youth Staff contract aboard Royal Caribbean. Along with entertainment, we promoted learning and creativity, offering educational activities through science experiments, and expression through art projects, theme nights, and parades. I've taught English classes for kids/teens in Brazil, and led equestrian programs in Greece for troubled and disabled local children. Prior to leaving the US, I filled my passion tutoring “at risk” children after school in Buffalo, and working to develop language skills through cultural activities for families in Boston. I have a special talent for literature, writing, and art, but also love math and science.
I love working with children of all ages, and like combining education with fun. I am a thoughtful, creative, and patient teacher, and like to encourage children to approach problems and questions in their own way, frequently ... read more

My teaching style is hands-on. I believe that while students gain knowledge through auditory and visual methods of learning, it is vital that they are given practical tasks that put their skills to use. I love seeing kids make mistakes with their work with the realization that they can overcome them through hard work and persistence. I am enthusiastic about education and how it creates endless opportunities for people seeking to make a positive impact on the world through their respective future careers.
I was in the Teacher Apprenticeship program from 2003-2004 at my high school, where I taught and tutored two classes of 8th grade students for my mentor teacher.
