A Little Bit About Me...

I have a BS in Child development with a minor in phsychology and I was teaching for Head Start back before I finished my degree. I have since finished and I am looking to expand my range. I love math and it just comes easy for me. I have a background in Engineering and Calculas.

I really enjoy tutoring. I love watching the students gain confidence as we work through the problems. I believe my attitude and approach to teaching helps the students. I provide enough understanding to the students but still challenge them. The worst thing you can do, is just give the answers. I believe everyone wants to learn and do their best, but it is hard when you do not understand what you are trying to do. My first teaching experience was as a high school senior where I was given the opportunity to teach a small group of 5th graders as part of the Missouri A+ program. We began with division, quickly moving into linear and nonlinear algebra, before touching on the fundamentals of complex numbers, graph theory and trigonometry, before concluding with a derivation of the quadratic formula and its applications. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Columbia University with a BA in English and political science and spent the four years following graduation working on the communications team for Mayor Michael Bloomberg in New York City. In that capacity I supervised a staff of five full time employees and a variable number of interns. That experience was helpful in terms of learning to teach and mentoring college-age and post-college individuals.
