I have been a working graphic designer for most of my life after graduation from Ohio State. After 12 years of design I was asked to participate in an art and education program at Chicago Public Schools Autism Program. I was hired on the spot and then continued with education by obtaining a masters degree in special education in Tempe Arizona. In Arizona I was assigned as an inclusion teacher for 9, 10 11th grade English. I had to accommodate diverse learners and plan instruction. I hold a valid Arizona Cross Catagorical Special Education Certificate that expires August 2013
I can identify students problems in learning and can accommodate and modify curriculum so diverse learning can understand grade level state standards. My six years of teaching experience started in Pittsburgh, PA as a Preschool teacher within a Head Start program. I then moved to Martinsburg, WV where I taught Kindergarten for three years and First Grade for one year in a public school system. I am now working towards my M.Ed. in Reading while I substitute teach in grades K-8. I have always been a part of a tutoring program with the schools as well as outside sources (Sylvan Learning Center). I also tutored students while obtaining my undergrad degree in Elementary Education.
