A Little Bit About Me...

Learned sign-language hands on from my deaf neighbors.I speak fluent with letters and know most of basic words and actions.Basic nouns and verbs.I learned the full alphabet very fast,so my neighbors taught me how to say words without spelling them out.It was very challenging at first, but now flows like speaking English.
On hand 1 on 1, the same way I learned.

More About This Tutor...

I have been teaching myself American Sign Language for a little over 2 years. I am fluent, and willing to teach anyone who wants to learn. I don't know anyone who is deaf. I became interested in American Sign Language while watching a TV show on ABC Family called Switched At Birth. The show encouraged me to learn, and I hope I can encourage someone else to learn as well. I don't charge much because I don't have a lot of experience with teaching/tutoring, but give me a chance and i will make it worth it. I cannot teach baby sign language only regular sign language. that is my only preference.
I use American Sign Language dictionaries and the internet while also showing the student how to use American Sign Language myself.

I believe that every child has the unalienable right to experience some success each and every day of their lives. My approach is hands-on, student centered and nurturing. I believe in learning by discovery and the use of manipulatives in a manner whereby the student learns without even knowing it. The discovery approach is best to grasping knowledge but to process any and all information is tantamount. Knowing what to do with the information is far more important than just possessing it.
