A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching, tutoring, style emphasizes flexibility. While there are specific learning units that should be taught and retained by the student, the flexibility of the teacher, or tutor, will assist the learning experience for the student. It is my personal goal to strive for not only specific subject material teaching, but to also teach problem solving and critical thinking to any student in my classes.

I love working with older children. By the time students have reached secondary school, most are developing confidence in their abilities and discovering their unique talents. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Ole Miss in 99'. I taught 2nd and 5th grade before going to Falkner to teach Special Ed. in grades 9-12. I helped prepare students for state tests. I completed a BA in English from Union University in 2003. I tutored and proofread for other university students and contributed most of the writing for the yearbook my senior year. I began working in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions upon graduation and have been responsible for editing and revising the recruitment material we mail out each fall. I also worked as a substitute teacher during my time in college. I have not been employed yet just as tutor, but tutoring is a perfect culmination of my skills and love for students.
The challenge of teaching is the constant upheaval of technique due to the myriad of personalities and backgrounds which make up the typical classroom.
