During my years at the University of New Haven, I earned a BS in Biology and a MS in secondary education. During my undergraduate work, I worked with other biology students to form a laboratory class for students from a private school which had no laboratory facilities. I possess excellent communication skills both written and oral. The first is writing extensive research papers and laboratory reports, and the second is due to extensive public speaking course work. During the past six years I have taught students in the areas of biology, Earth science, Life science, and Marine science.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have two younger sisters myself, and I am currently coaching the eight year old's softball team. From this experience, I have learned to have patience and creativity when it comes to teaching. I break things down so they become fun and informative.
While at Virginia Tech, I dedicated much of my time to volunteering. Here I fell in love with serving others. Over the past five years I have worked as a Teacher/Instructor both the the legal field and in the public school setting with students diagnosed as ED and LD as well as being displaced from the normal public school setting. Even though my academic degrees are in the legal field I have stayed current in areas of Reading and Math from Basic Algebra to Geometry.
I believe that a student who lacks the basic fundamental skills in reading and mathematics will struggle to stay focused in class and continually be disruptive and ultimately stop attending school. My teaching style is consistently accommodating especially to these types of students. I like to show students that I am there for them and there isn't anything through my patience and sincerity they cannot learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.
I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.
