I have 13 years of classroom teaching experience. I have taught in various elementary setting including urban, suburban, and rural populations. I have taught in very large classrooms with 31 students in them and very small classrooms with only 3 students in them. In addition to teaching in the classroom I have also lead professional development on writing, how to disaggregate standardized assessments, student engagement, and on the reading comprehension strategies.

I believe that every child is able to learn and that all have the right to achieve their maximum potential. I am structured in my approach but strive to listen to the child's opinions. In the past, my classroom rules were based upon Jim Fay's Love and Logic; essentially, I will treat you with respect, and feel free to do anything that does not cause a problem for anyone else.
I have 31 years of teaching both learning disabled and cognitively disabled children. I have been trained extensively in working with youngsters who are dyslexic and dyscalculic ( math disabilities). I go through all the concepts with the individual pertaining to what portion of statistics they are studying at that time. I will then walk them through a couple of examples demonstrating how to properly obtain the correct answer. I will follow that up by asking them to do a problem without any direct instruction from me. I will watch them work on the problem to assure they are working on it properly. If any mistakes are made I will politely point them out as the individual is working. Finally, I will ask them to work on problems completely on their own and I will check their answers when they are done. I feel the only way to learn statistics, or any math for that matter, is through repetition and working on a lot of problems.
