I also taught a year in middle school, a year in community college and worked in administrative positions at the elementary, middle school and high school levels. I love interacting with people. I like to think of myself as a people person and I've come to love teaching my classmates when they don't quite understand as well as I do. I think everyone has the ability to learn, it's just a matter of understand how we learn. Some soak it up just by listening in the classroom, some need to spend time on their own working through assignments so they can learn it through repetition. I believe the key is to understand the student's learning style and then figure out how make the subject fun. Getting my Ph.D. in English has given me the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing. Every child has a window of time when learning to write and read is at its peak. I’ve observed this can begin as early as three or four years of age. Yet the child who discovers his/her fascination with language at the age of eight is no less gifted. So I believe patiently leading children through auditory, kinesthetic and auditory learning channels will grant them opportunities to learn rapidly.
