A Little Bit About Me...

I believe learning should be a lifelong endeavor and fun. If it is considered a chore, the best results are not often achieved. Involving all the senses in a Montessori-style approach reaches more parts of the brain, and increases the desire to learn more. I earned my Engineering Degree in 1998 and have worked my entire career in that field. There are many ways for children to learn, and the most effective method that I have used is to establish a basic foundation and then build upon that. My five year old son, Paul, is already reading and writing becuase I have worked patiently with him for the last few years. Simple rewards like a 'high five' may seem silly, but any type of positive reinforcement helps to keep attention focused on the work at hand, and makes children enjoy what they are doing. In addition to my college work, I also taught 9th-11th graders at a charter school for three semesters. This environment was rewarding, as I found the high school students appreciative of my efforts and eager to learn.
