Teachers should work more as an aid or guide that facilitate the learning process, rather than as omnipotent instructors who attempt to force knowledge into the minds of their students. Information should not just be passed down as if it is the last and all-knowing word. I have found that having the student talk through the subject matter can be useful in determining his/her strengths and level of understanding. I like to have the student work through some problems they have not been assigned from their book/notes so that they are able to practice and work through some other problems before attempting any assignments. I have also found that it is useful to go over any previous quizzes or tests related to the current subject matter as difficulties are sometimes related to previous work because with these subjects the work tends to build upon itself.
