I am a graduate from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology and about to graduate in May 2011 with another Bachelor degree in Recreational Therapy. I was valedictorian in my high school and graduated in the top 10% of my class in college. In addition to that I have 5 years of Spanish I have taken in high school and college and recently went to Oaxaca, Mexico on a study abroad trip for 3 weeks. I have three years of experience working with children and teaching them social skills, daily living skills, helping them with their homework whenever they need it, and I love to learn. I have many years of experience working with various age groups teaching and training a variety of activities. I spent a year and half of my college career studying Elementary Education before switching to Psychology. During that time I worked with students at our on campus elementary school Greenwood Laboratory. While working for the Park Board I had the opportunity to assist students K-5 with homework, recreation, fundamentals of sports and getting them to use their creative minds. I love teaching and working with all children. I prefer a one on one setting and use positive constructive teaching methods. I am a good listener and have a lot of patience. I enjoy watching others learn and am good at picking up nonverbal cues. I have the ability to keep my students interested in their subject matter.

I have taught Special Education for the last 12 years from grades k-12. I have four years experience in High School, seven years in elementary and one year as a special education director. I have also tutored students in high school (one year), taught private kindergarter (one year) and I was director of a Day care for 2 years. I earned my Bachelors degree when my children were small (all under the age of 7) and I continued on with classes starting in 2001 until I received my Masters Degree in Special Education.
