I have worked with children for many years and in many different settings. I have observed so many different learning styles and I strive, as a teacher, to be flexible enough to help a child learn using their strengths. I have been teaching for 25 years. I have tutored students in beginning Spanish and reading. I have also taught Sunday School and have been a substitute teacher for 11 years. I have just completed student teaching to become an Intervention Specialist. I intend to be certified this spring. I vary my teaching style. Some students are content with just reading while others need hands-on and visual experience. I believe in using technology, as the Smart Board and computer instruction in addition to textbook instruction. I do my best to keep the student's interest in mind, and I work at the student's pace. In high school and throughout my college career, I have tutored many ages- varying from age 8 to age 30. I've earned a BA in English from Kent State University in 2007, and it has helped me to understand the importance of literacy in young adults as well as continuing education. I worked at the Ohio Literacy Resource Center as a tutor for college students, and have been involved with Junior Achievement and tutored French to third grade students for both Garfield Elementary School and Ella Canavan Elementary School in Medina, Ohio during high school. By understanding the manner in which the student comprehends new information, we then can build upon their foundation by removing the frustration and replacing it with confidence that will extend into their personal life as well. As a bilingual, internationally traveled persona, I have tutored students of all ages.
