A Little Bit About Me...

As a teacher, I believed strongly in cooperative learning where peers are taught to teach each other. I enjoy one on one teaching where I can focus on a students' needs much easier. I believe that hands on experiences are beneficial to all students. Each child learns differently and I like to focus on and teach according to their learning style.
I graduated from UW Oshkosh with a BS degree in Elementary Education and English. I have been a teacher for 18 years. I have taught all subjects to PreK, second and third grades. I have also worked with At risk high school students. I am currently a professional caregiver and activity aide in a group home with individuals who have physical and cognitive disabilities.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am an easy going individual who attempts to make learning fun and relate it to real life examples. With physics and calculus, there are many instances when assignments can be very difficult to comprehend because it's difficult to see how a derivative or integral relates to real life situations. I do my best to try and simplify difficult problems into easy steps that a student would already know. I feel that the best way to fully learn something though is to do it yourself. Repetition in school and sports is really the best way to improve and is a theory I strongly believe in.
With my bachelor degree in Civil Engineering, I have developed a strong understanding and comprehension of math and science. From as long as I can remember I have had a passion for science and the arts which explains why I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology a Masters degree in Art Therapy. Although I do not have a teaching certificate, I have taught painting for over 15 years at a local technical college. I did a lot of tutoring at the junior high level and helped my own children with algebra and science all through high school. I have a BS from the university of wisconsin oshkosh. My area of study was Professional chemistry with a biochem emphisis. I have taken courses in physics, materials science, biochem, molecular and cell biology, organic chemistry physical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, ect. I have 3+ years of experience working as a process chemist in a manufacturing and research and development setting.
I have some experience as a swimming instructor as well as a privet tutor for a non traditional student who was having a hard time grasping the concepts of all science not just chemistry. I have always enjoyed discussing science related topics in an acidemic and professinal atmosphere.

I enjoy teaching students of all ages, and the challenges and rewards that go with it. My studies in psychology taught me the importance of positive reinforcement and constructive communication to the learning process. I believe learning occurs in small steps and concepts need to be broken down into smaller pieces for learning to effectively occur; these steps need to be mastered before the student moves on.
