I have taught reading for the last 17 years to struggling readers in a public school. The students that I teach have shown improvement in reading and writing on the state achievement test for the last 10 years. I enjoy working with struggling readers because when they get it it is very rewarding to know that in some way I have helped them enjoy reading.

A Little Bit About Me...

I give my students the benefit of the doubt. In the beginning and throughout the school year, I assume that my students are giving me their best. It may not be at grade level, and may be sloppy and hard to read but it's what they can do right now. Then, the hard work begins! My students are so proud when a few short months later, they can write a little neater and it's more legible. I have been teaching both elementary education and special education (learning disabilities) for many years. I have also taught Read to Achieve for several years.
