A Little Bit About Me...

For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.
I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. I want to help and make a difference in each student that I tutor. I like to reach out to all of my students. I learn each of my students name and have them see that I want them to well. I also feel that students should be given assignments to work on during class and not lectured the entire time.
I have always had a passion for teaching and helping to educate people. I have earned a BS in Business Administration and a MS in Accounting. Through my education and experience I have an extensive set of business and grammar skills. I have completed four years of Latin and enjoyed it.
