Over the past five years I have worked as a Teacher/Instructor both the the legal field and in the public school setting with students diagnosed as ED and LD as well as being displaced from the normal public school setting. Even though my academic degrees are in the legal field I have stayed current in areas of Reading and Math from Basic Algebra to Geometry.
I believe that a student who lacks the basic fundamental skills in reading and mathematics will struggle to stay focused in class and continually be disruptive and ultimately stop attending school. My teaching style is consistently accommodating especially to these types of students. I like to show students that I am there for them and there isn't anything through my patience and sincerity they cannot learn.

For the past ten years, I have been teaching High School English. I have taught grades 9-12 in Literature, Composition and Standards of Learning in preparation for the state exams. I have taught inclusion classes involving students with numerous learning styles and have always met and exceeded the expectations of their parents.
I am a very motivating person and tend to use humor as a method of teaching. I teach to and with the child and never down to him/her. I break large components into their simplest forms so that a child learns to take things one step at a time and not feel overwhelmed. I make the learning relevant to what the child is interested in or knows about so that he/she can be more engaged in the learning process. We set the goal-a reasonable one yet with high expectations and together we achieve it.

Teaching is a joy to me and privilege I am grateful to have. I am a creative, patient, and caring person and I love to incorporate games and fun into learning while maintaining the seriousness of the subject. I seek to know each student’s personality in order that we may build a trusting environment where they feel safe to try their best. Each student has a different learning style and I tailor everything to fit the unique needs of each student. As a guide to their learning I believe in the constructivist approach where students do not just learn how to do something but understand why it works. With time and encouragement everyone can reach their educational goals and gain confidence. It is my honor to be a part of the success.
