Over the past few months I have been involved with substitute teaching in Richland School District 2. Since being involved I have gotten very much involved in every aspect of teaching. I have been requested at serveral of the district schools because of the way I respond to being in the classroom and working with children of age grades and ages. I am very excited about being in the schools on a daily basis and plan to take things a step further and pursue a full time teaching position in the upcoming school through an accrediated university program.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with an M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the University of South Carolina in May of 2010. Directly after graduating, I began a career as an Academic Advisor in the Moore School of Business Undergraduate Division at the University of South Carolina. I currently still hold this job. I also taught a University 101 course to 25 incoming freshmen in the Fall of 2010. This course included helping the students get acquainted with resources on campus, learn study/time management strategies, and much more. Also, while in graduate school, I worked about 5-10 hours per week as an Academic Success Coach in the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE) at the University of South Carolina.

I excelled as a 'teaching' team leader as a student of the Business Management program at the University of Phoenix. I earned my bachelor's degree graduating with a 3.45 GPA. While taking the lead on team-based assignments, I developed a passion for teaching. Assisting others in creating persuasive essays, attention-gripping novels and intellectually researched term papers became a challenge I learned to embrace and enjoy. While attending Claflin University in the pursuit of obtaining duel BA's in the field of journalism and sociology, my off times was spent in the middle schools of Orangeburg, SC for nearly six years. I spent 4-5 hours in the classroom (daily) as an assistant and tutor/mentor in language arts classes grades 6-8. My majoring in sociology allows me to use human behavioral knowledge to reach kids effectively in order to sustain their focus which allows them to embrace the concept of learning.
