Hi! My name is Andrew Hoover and I started tutoring Mathematics/Science during my sophomore year in High School. Since then, I have continued to help others within my classes up until I reached community college. It was in 2008 that I became a certified tutor for Fresno City College, where I have been ever since. My teaching style is perhaps not as Socratic as I would prefer. I first elucidate the principles being considered, and then use a practical means to illustrate and work with that principle. I like to have the student learn to derive what is being taught for themselves. That way the material will stay with them. Grounding the material being learned in some real-life experience makes knowledge meaningful and useful. That is what I endeavor to achieve.
