While I am not a teacher by profession, I spent much time in the academic support center at SUNY Cobleskill as a freshman tutoring students in different kinds of math. (ie: algebra,fractions, etc) and occasionally in english and science. I also had to lead several class discussions at grad school at times, teaching the readings or materials for that week. This included presentations and answering questions from the audience. However, my main interest would be in math or english (ie: reading and writing) because over the years I have found these to be invaluable tools. I enjoy tutoring enough to do it for free, which I have done for my friends from time to time. I love teaching, period. I strive for clarity in my presentation. This has allowed me to explain very complex ideas to adults as well as very young children. The mark of a good teacher is comprehension. Never is there a place for anger or impatience in teaching! It is the duty of the instructor to demonstrate why the subject is important and interesting. I worked a year in the Tutoring Department located at Mohawk Valley Community College. This was an open lab which meant 3-4 students would need help at any one particular time period. Subject Help that I was required for involved Pre-Calculus, Calculus (I & II), Physics, Algebra, Trigonometry and basic electrical courses.
