College grad with teaching/tutoring experience; kid-friendly

I prefer a hands-on approach, especially with science and math. I believe an education is more than memorizing definitions but understanding and being able to apply concepts broadly. I have found children grasp a concept better when they are allowed to explore concrete applications instead of studying abstract ideas. A typical tutoring session would include a review of classroom material, an experiment or observation applying that information, and homework formatted to the style his or her teacher's testing style. However, each child learns differently and adjustments will be made to more closely fit each individuals learning style and needs.

During my Sophomore Year at College of Charleston I worked in the Math Lab tutoring all levels of classical mathematics up to Calculus III. I happened to be the only tutor who checked a box saying I could help high school students, and therefore worked with every family who called the college looking for a math tutor.
