Some students require a more incremental approach, covering material at a slower pace or more than once. Other students learn quicker and get frustrated if things are repeated. My job is to adapt to the particular individual and use the method that facilitates best learning. My oldest is a national merit scholar finalist, and my youngest son is captain of his high school math team. Math is fun, like a puzzle-once the student sees this fact, they begin having more fun and less fear of the subject.
I am a patient teacher, and I use many different ways of communication. I try to find the style of learning best suited to my pupil. Removing the fear of the subject seems to be the most important part.
