If necessary, I separate an idea into simpler terms, and help students learn each term before continuing. I give examples which illustrate a point or demonstrate a procedure. At times, my students write short essays, which I critique for sentence structure, word choice, tense matching, and organization. I feel it is important to allow the student to go at his or her “own pace” and not create a frustrating environment where they may feel too pressured.
