Taught English while living in Colombia, very easy for me to teach Spanish as it is my native language, also my Spanish is very neutral no strong accent at all. I acheived a B. S. in Education in 1975. My major was Spanish with a minor in French. My personal goals as an undergraduate was to obtain an education that would allow me to work in education and business as an educated professional. I continued my education with post graduate studies in business and healthcare science. I worked toward adding science to my teaching certificate in the 1980s. I have worked with children of all ages both at home and in schools as well as adults.
I prefer to teach in a classroom environment with a structure and learning standards. I can also teach in a one on one tutoring session. I'm known for my patience working with students with foreign-language backgrounds and other disabilities such as a lack of attention and focus. I learned from my professors at Swarthmore College (and a few at Penn) how to project a non-B.S. style, since kids tend to intuitively realize when their teacher has no idea what he/she is talking about.
