My teaching style is really one of encouragement, love, belief, knowledge, honesty and respect. I believe that children need to know that you are truely concerned for them before they really want to know how much knowledge you can dispense to them. As an elementary student in the 4th grade I had a reading deficiency and was reading on a 1st grade level. It my parents and tutors that gave the encouragement to continue trying and the self-esteem to know that I could do it. A Little Bit About Me...

Having moved between English, History, and Anthropology during my undergraduate years, I've surveyed quite an extensive portion of the social sciences. I have earned a major in Anthropology and a minor in History. The workloads for these courses included several 50+ page ethnographic reports in addition to the basic course curriculum. A Little Bit About Me...

I began teaching/tutoring while in graduate school. I tutored undergrads in sociology, psychology, and social statistics. I also taught driver's education to high school students while in grad school. After ten years working in law enforcement, I switched to social services and I have been mentoring children in foster care for the past twenty years.
I try to keep the material fresh and I avoid boredom and repetition at all costs. One of my best tools to connect with a young person is through humor. If the student feels relaxed they are more likely to absorb the information. I also use reverse psychology to turn the tables so they actually find themselves teaching me the material.
