I moved to NYC in 2001 to become a Broadway actor; however, I did not want to live the actor "lifestyle" and in essence become a professional waiter. I signed up for an alternative teaching program and accepted a position as a social studies teacher in the projects of East New York, Brooklyn. I quickly realized that teaching was a full time job, and I did not have time to pursue acting, which was fine because I enjoyed my experience as a teacher and as a mentor to children who needed strong male leadership.
