A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored high school students who are college bound during my undergraduate years at William Paterson University of New Jersey. I also tutored my fellow undergraduates. I then pursued a doctorate and was active in many peer study groups where were tutored each other in neuroscience and organic chemistry. I have a love for science which shows through my enthusiasm in imparting scientific knowledge to others.
My style is dependent on the student. While the end result is having a student understand the material, the way of achieving this varies with each person. I have a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. I love being able to help students feel comfortable with the material they are studying. I have tutored numerous times throughout college, and would like to get back into tutoring students because I find it to be rewarding. As a student who went from living in Germany and being taught that there are many ways of getting the right answer, to moving to America where everything is taught in one way, I have learned to incorporate my tutoring skills to the need of each individual student. My comments on tutoring Science : I hold a Ph.D. In Biomedical Science with a focus on molecular virology and molecular biochemistry..

I took a variety of Biology classes and Labs at WPI mostly focused on Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. I recently finished my PH.D. where I studied control of viral gene expression. This work encompassed a variety of biological disciplines including virology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, and molecular genetics, all of which I am quite experienced in. I also have experience teaching in a seminar format as well as in small groups. As a senior graduate student I was responsible for leading discussions prior to invited speaker seminars.

I have always loved to teach – even as a child in front of a tiny blackboard in my living room, playing school with my sister. Since then, I have continuously sought opportunities to teach outside of my daily school and work life.
