I believe that every student should be given more than enough opportunities to succeed in school. Generally speaking, I believe students learn much more efficiently when they have manipulatives to work with. Also, when students are able to relate to the subject matter, and know why it is important to learn it, they grasp and master the skill quickly and easily. My calm and caring manner also facilitates learning and reassures the students that I truly care about them.
Illinois State University is well known for their education program. Graduating from this university has filled me with pride and confidence in my ability to teach. As a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a BS in Elementary Education, I received my first teaching position as a special education teacher in the Rockford School District, 205. After two years, I moved into a 6th grade position, teaching Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science. I received my Master's degree from Walden University in Middle Level Education with areas of concentration in Language Arts and Social Studies. I went on to teach 7th and 8th grade Language Arts. I am Title 1 certified and have 20 additional hours of training in the education field.
The description of my teaching style changes with each new class I receive.
