I teach based on how the particular student can grasp and understand what is being taught because students have their own methods and mental tools to open themselves to what is being taught, so that they learn. I have most of my experience working with English language learners. Over the past year I have worked with English language learners that came from varied backgrounds such as, university aged Korean students, adult Russian speakers, adult Ukrainian speakers, and adult, middle, and elementary aged Spanish speakers. I really enjoy speaking other languages, which is why I majored in Linguistics and French. I received my TESOL certification in Querétaro Mexico this summer where I also studied Spanish and became rather proficient. As a linguist I understand language at a very primary level and can explain complex concepts using simple but not “watered down” language.
