My comments on tutoring Writing : As an English teacher, I have taught students to write for 35 years.

I have taught English at the high school level for 33 years, both in public and private school. Currently, I am an instructor for a GED class. I team taught with a special education teacher for several years and encouraged the private school where I taught to hire a special education teacher at the high school level. I have taught all levels of English, from vocational English to low level students to honors students.
I particularly enjoy one-on-one teaching; I also enjoy asking students questions to draw from them the knowledge they are seeking.

A Chinese proverb states tell me and I'll forget, teach me and I'll remember, involve me and I'll learn. My goal is to involve students in their learning. In my classroom I have a variety of learning centers where students practice the skills that they have learned. Centers are designed for multiple learning levels and interests.
I have taught kindergarten for one year and pre-kindergarten for two years. As a kindergarten teacher my DIBELS scores were the highest at the mid year assessment compared to the other two kindergarten classes.
