When most high school seniors were registering for classes, they had an easy agenda planned. My intentions were entirely different. I decided to challenge myself the final year and study more science coursework than was needed for me to sufficiently graduate. In addition, I was the kind of friend that was reliable in understanding course concepts, so most of my friends and some other peers were coming to me for help. In college, I continued to pursue my interest in business. Through out college I contributed to my church's youth group by helping in organizing and implementing their projects.
I enjoy children and trying to teach them new and exciting things. A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned two Associates Degrees in my native Mexico, in the city of Merida. I came to the USA in 1978 and continued my studies in Elementary Education, which has enabled me to gain an understanding of the English language. I have 4 years of experience substituting as an ESL teacher as well as teaching the 4 High School levels of Spanish in the South Sioux City Community School District, During the past 12 years I have also tutored individual High School students in the Spanish language.
I love teaching and working with all children, and I love to teach my own native language as well as my own culture. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. I work well with children of all ages and am considerably patient, easygoing, although stern as well with my students. My teaching style consists of visual illustrations mixed with a lecture or teaching session. Through my experiences at USD I have determined that the amalgamation of these two styles produce more stimulating teachings as well as information retention being maximized as well. I typically work off of a performance based reward system since it appears to me that children are motivated by praise and reward in order to push them to do better on each successive obstacle they encounter in the classroom
