I never set out to work with children but after I was hired to be a teacher assistant for young children with autism I can’t imagine doing anything else. I am a very patient person and I strive to bring a light hearted, fun approach to working with students. I believe that learning should be educational but at the same time fun and engaging. A Little Bit About Me...

I hold an English degree from a program that largely overlapped with Education - basically, I have studied teaching as a student at college. On the other end of the spectrum, I have been a substitute educator for Capital Region BOCES for 3 years, working with teaching professionals on short-term assignments. Through this experience I believe I have gathered a good deal of craft in the area of special-needs learning.
I think it is more important to understand the student than to understand the material. Don't get me wrong - as a teacher I always re-educate myself to the material if need be - but I feel my real strength as an educator lies in finding a new way to teach the same concept.
