Spanish is one of my top subjects! I learned Spanish in high school through the IB program in Bartow, and am now fluent. I have tutored Spanish before, and the student went from failing the class to passing the AP exam with a 5 and the IB exam with a 6.

I have tutored 1 student privately in Spanish for 2 years, and she went from failing her class to passing both the AP and IB exams with a 5 and a 6, respectively. I have also tutored small groups in Spanish for one semester ranging from high school introductory level to AP level. I have also tutored for one semester of ASL at the college level, and one semester of Japanese at the high school introductory level.
I aim for all tutoring to be done in the target language, but I recognize that this is unhelpful for many students. Nevertheless, I will start out only using the target language, but will switch to the students' preferred language upon request.

I taught elementary special education for two years with the Lima, Ohio, public schools. I taught high school Spanish and Remedial Reading for two years with the Pike Delta York schools in NW Ohio. I taught English as a Second Language to K-8 migrant children for two summers in Wauseon, Ohio. For ten years, I taught virtually all subjects to K-12 Home/Hospital bound students for the Aurora Public Schools in suburban Denver. Tutoring is my passion, particularly in the language arts areas.
I believe all children can learn, particularly if we match our instructional style to the learning style and needs of the student(s). As the mother of a special needs child, I constantly look to see what other teachers have perhaps missed in their dealings with a classroom full of students. My references, from supervisors and parents alike, evidence the passion I display toward struggling students. ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked as a tutor in a program called Tutoring Tables, where students attended to obtain help in various subjects. My responsibilities consisted of helping students with questions and homework, organizing study sessions, and providing guidance to improve study skills. The subjects under my expertise are Biology and Chemistry; however, my academic background has provided me with strong knowledge in math and other sciences. Also, I am a Spanish native speaker and half of my college credits were awarded in a Spanish-speaking University, thus I have extensive grammar skills and vocabulary knowledge.
The main purpose of tutoring is the development of strong study skills. When students are unable to solve a particular problem, they usually have not been able to understand the basic concepts needed to find the solution. By learning strategies to analyze the information given, stude ... read more
