My comments on tutoring Algebra : Well studied under the obtainment of my minor in Math.

As a Graduate of Saginaw Valley State University, I have obtained a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Minors in Math and Biology. I have gained knowledge in most of the sub-sets on those subjects as well as High School or College entry level in most other academic subjects. I have tutored before as a volunteer, in paid sessions, and have often helped out friends at various educational levels.

My comments on tutoring Algebra : I taught 3 years in a 6-8 grade Algebra 1 inclusion setting

In my 30 years of teaching in the special education field I have taught in grades 1st-8th grade. I have also taught in varies capacities, such as an inclusion setting, self-contained classroom, and resource room. I feel if that you really want to learn a subject, that you should try teaching it. I am very friendly and laid back. I try to instill humor and life experiences with my teachings to help the children relate to me or the materials. I love the look of child when the wheels are turning in thier head. I believe that all children have a chance for higher education.

A Little Bit About Me...

When teaching, I not only want my students to be able to use basic formulas, but have a thorough understanding as well. I am very logical and exact in my thinking process. Since I am not good at reading minds, communication is very important. Let me know if you understand a topic or explanation. There are often a number of approaches to solving a problem which can be tried.
I am a graduate of Michigan State University and achieved a AS in applied mathematics, along with a BS in both computer science and mathematics. I was a teaching assistant at the university for three years, and assisted in the Learning center for a few more. I taught a few classes at Davenport University in Caro as well. I have tutored several math students before, and have given piano lessons to a number of students as well.
