Working with people, particularly children, has always been a passion of mine. Through the psychology program at Husson College I was able to gain a better understanding of human interaction, interpersonal relationships, as well as to obtain further insight on the foundation of the cognitive wiring in which we all possess. I also have a 6 year old daughter, who I have found to be the key to my drive in watching all children achieve academic success. I think the process starts with parents but branches out into the world of educators, and truly is a battle that can be won as long as there is always a core group of people committed to each child's success in the classroom. As a current graduate student I have had the opportunity to learn a great deal about the effective techniques and skills it takes for one to succeed within the classroom. I love creating a sense of wonder and exploration as well as critical thinking. I like to incorporate the children's interests into what it is they are trying to study. I believe that teachers are overworked sometimes in classroom settings and that some students get overlooked when they need a little more time to grasp a concept. I would love to be a part of a program that helped give more one on one time to these students who may need that little extra attention to become truly great. As a graduate from one of the top Liberal Arts schools in New England, I helped tutor college students in English Composition for one semester. Before I changed my major, I was Secondary English Education, which translates into training to be a high school English teacher. I have loved working with children since I was a teenager. Especially with my experience with children with special needs, I believe all children can learn and I want to help all children have academic success. I firmly believe that all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate instruction and a positive environment. I strive to make a difference in every child's life that I work with. I have always been interested in teaching others, in particular, teaching children with special needs. The majority of my experience teaching is teaching children with special needs including many children with autism.
