Sculpting is one of my top subjects!

I am a highscool graduate and am currently taking college classes. I have tutored many elementary age students in elementary subject areas; especially literature, writing, grammar, art, and music. I have tutored high school age students in music and art. I have also tutored middle school age students in music and art.
I prefer one-on-one tutoring in a public area. I am a fun , encouraging tutor in the elementary subject areas; and am enthusiastic about art and music for all ages. I prefer an encouraging approach with lots of rewards and positive feedback; and if things get too rough, I change my style up a bit to accomodate the student's needs.

In the past year I have graduated with a double major and passed the Society of Actuaries' Probability exam. My experience in finding effective study techniques and quickly understanding new material allows me to explain subjects to others as directly as possible. I am determined to make the most of each hour of every day.
Visual explanation and simple repetition are the most successful tools to help a child learn. I am patient and calm with students but not afraid of discipline. Before college I was a summer camp counselor for three years and part-time babysitter; jobs that taught me how to work with children. I hope to improve a child's life through improving education.

I believe in a multi facet teaching style. Children learn by many different ways. Some children learn by audio, visual, or kinetic. So, I would teach in a style that suited by the student's needs. I love teaching and working with children. I understand differen conditions such as Autism and Attention Deficit Disorder. As of May 2010, I will hold a Bachelor’s Degree with a major in writing and a minor in literature from Christopher Newport University. I have worked in the on-campus writing center for a year, where I found my aspiration to tutor others in writing.
