I taught one semester of College Algebra at Illinois State University. I was responsible for 2 sections of lab while I completed graduate credits for a Master's in Mathematics. My B.S. in actuarial science (math) was attained from Bradley University. Also, I've been a youth minister at the local church for a year and half now and have formed a large group consisting of junior high and high school students. I love to put myself in the students' shoes. I have the ability to relate to the students on an individual level and they respect me. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Buisness Admin. I dont't really have any experience in tutoring.I have only helped family members in their buisness courses in high school. If given the opportunity my experience will increase and I could grow into a successful tutor I have no teaching experience therefore I have no teaching style. If I were a teacher I would teach the kids the information, have a question session and then review the information in a game type format. The kids will learn if you make the information interesting and fun. That way you will get thier attention.

Mathematically, I teach from a logical, or procedural approach. As students work their way up to Calculus and further, it is important to understand the process of problem-solving and not focus on the numbers alone. Many sciences can become abstract, I like to relate topics to things students may encounter everyday or already understand in order to get a foundation before complicating topics with smaller detail. I am very positive and try to push students as fast as they absorb the information. I feel it is hard to enjoy a subject if you do not understand it or see how it effects you.
