Over the years I have become a diligent student of the college essay, journalism and non-fiction writing. As a literature major, I was trained how to analyze stories and ideas through discussion and then how to put ideas into written form. As a creative writing minor I was trained how to edit sentences taking out any unnecessary phrases and words. In addition, as a senior, I did an internship at the UNCW writing center where I helped college students with editing their papers. My passion for clear thinking and concise writing has only grown since college. I graduated from UNC Chapel Hill last Spring with a BA in Anthropology and a minor in both Creative Writing and Chinese. I graduated with a 3.99gpa and Highest Honors. I was selected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society in my Senior Year. That year I also won the top individual creative writing prize from the University Chancellor. My work has been published and awarded in our school literary magazine. In addition to academic and creative success, I also have a lot of teaching experience. In 07, I taught English to disadvantaged 7th graders in Durham. In 08, I was a TA for an Anthropology course at Duke TIP, a program that works with gifted high school students.
