I am an English major at the University of South Carolina Beaufort in my final semester of study and will be graduating in December with a BA and a concentration in writing. Though I have never formally been a tutor, I have always been the person that my friends have gone to for help with composing papers, interpreting and analyzing passages of literature, and general study skills for how to improve their writing and/or reading abilities. As a recipient of an Associates Degree Summa Cum Laude; I have and more importantly my students have experienced success within and outside of the classroom. I have been a camp counselor, tutor, coach and teacher. I have taught English in Ghana, preschool in Argentina and special education in the Bronx. As a teacher, classroom experiences have made me realize all students do not learn the same fashion. Some students are more aggressive and advanced but there are those who are silent and will not speak out about difficulties understanding competencies. I prefer not to embarrass those students but give them the opportunity to learn one-on-one.
